Business Finance Without the Jargon

Most business owners avoid finance because it feels like learning another language. But you don't need an accounting degree to understand your numbers. We teach the practical side of business finance through clear examples and real scenarios you'll actually encounter.

20 Years in Business Finance, Still Learning

I spent most of my career helping small businesses figure out their finances after things got complicated. And I noticed something. Most owners didn't need complicated strategies. They needed someone to explain cash flow without making them feel stupid.

So that's what I do now. I teach business finance the way I wish someone had taught me when I started my first company back in 2003. Clear explanations. Real examples. No pretending everything is simple when it isn't.

Our courses start in September 2025, but we're opening early registration in June for anyone who wants to get their questions answered before committing. Because signing up for something should never feel like a gamble.

What You'll Actually Learn

We focus on the finance skills that actually matter for running a business

Reading Financial Statements

Learn what those numbers actually mean. We break down profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports using examples from real businesses.

Cash Flow Management

Understand why profitable businesses still run out of money. We cover timing, forecasting, and practical strategies for keeping cash available when you need it.

Budget Planning

Create budgets that actually work for your business. Not theoretical spreadsheets, but realistic plans that account for how business actually happens.

Pricing Strategies

Figure out what to charge based on your actual costs and business goals. We work through pricing decisions using real cost structures and market considerations.

Financial Decision Making

Learn how to evaluate investments, expansions, and major purchases. We cover the questions you should ask before committing your money.

Working with Accountants

Get better results from your accounting relationship. Understand what questions to ask, what information to provide, and how to use their advice effectively.

I always felt embarrassed asking basic questions about finance. Jarek made it clear that understanding takes time, and there's no shame in starting from where you are. Three months in, and I finally understand what my accountant has been telling me for years.

How Our Sessions Work

We run small cohorts of 12-15 people because finance questions get specific quickly. Everyone's business is different, so we spend time on individual scenarios.

Each session combines explanation with practice. We don't just talk about cash flow forecasting. You build one for your business while we're together, and we work through it until it makes sense.

  • Weekly three-hour sessions over eight weeks
  • Small group format with individual attention
  • Real business examples and case studies
  • Direct access for questions between sessions
  • Templates and tools you can use afterwards

Our next cohort starts September 2025. We keep groups small intentionally, so spots fill up about two months ahead.

What to Expect

Our eight-week format builds understanding progressively

Foundation Phase

We start with financial statements and basic accounting concepts. Not because they're exciting, but because everything else builds on them. We use actual business examples so you can see how the concepts apply in practice.

Application Phase

You start working with your own business numbers. We cover cash flow forecasting, budget creation, and pricing analysis using your real data. This is where the concepts start making practical sense.

Decision Making

We look at common business decisions through a financial lens. Should you hire someone? Expand your space? Buy that equipment? We work through the financial considerations that should inform these choices.

Ongoing Support

After the course ends, you get six months of email access for questions that come up. Because real understanding often happens when you're trying to apply something weeks later.

Who This Works For

Our courses work best for people running established businesses who want to understand their finances better. Not startups still figuring out their model, but businesses with at least a year of operations and some financial history to work with.

Most participants are sole traders or small business owners doing their own financial management. Some have bookkeepers but want to understand what the numbers mean. Others work with accountants and want to have more informed conversations.

You don't need any financial background. But you do need to be willing to look at your actual numbers, which can feel uncomfortable at first.
